The PTA worked with teachers to target the appropriate grade(s), assisted with sending permission slips, and offered a stipend for the teachers so that all after-school clubs were free of charge for students!! To be eligible, these proposed projects must involve and impact an entire grade or multiple grades at Rashkis. In 2022-23, the PTA funded $6,000 in mini-grants. Funded mini-grants include: adaptive seating, Chicks in the Classroom, an Early Numeracy Program for grades K-1, a 5th Grade Science Curriculum, funding for field trips, as well as fund assistance for the 4th Grade Arts in Action Program. These are really fun evenings where parents get out of cooking plus students and families get to see each other at a fun dinner out! Both book fairs are a great opportunity to get our students excited about reading. The Used Book Fair is a wonderful way to recycle books and all items sold are just $1. At Rashkis, the PTA assists PSF with encouraging participation in and providing volunteers for their 5K Run and Breakfast and Roses events for teachers and staff. Rashkis is also lucky to have parent volunteers who partner with teachers and staff to assist with writing PSF grants. For multiple reasons, this project has been delayed, but thanks to the persistence of the 2022-23 PTA, the shade structure is to be installed in Summer 2023. Each day, the aggregate minutes are tabulated by PTA volunteers for each classroom. Students get so excited to READ and beat the other classes in their grades. At the end of the week, the minutes are summed across the entire school! Additionally, our PE teacher hosts a field day for all to celebrate. Read-A-Thon also raises funds for the PTA.
